I am etc., to refer to

your letter MH/PT No.61459 of the

8th April addressed to the Foreign Office, about the registration on the Medical Register kept by the

General Council, of students of the

University of Hong Kong who qualify after going through courses of

instruction in free China and to

explain that he has, with the

concurrence of the Secretary of Sta

for Foreign Affairs, been giving

consideration to this question.

2. It will be recalled that

H.. Ambassador in China was being

asked what was the exact status of

the University at present and I am

to explain that in his reply

Sir H.Seymour stated that the activi of the University were at present suspended but that 264 students, of

whom 130 were medical students,

were continuing their studies at

Universities in free china. As

regards the legal position of the of Hong Kong

Universities in present circumstance Colonel Stanley is advised that it
